Previous Makerspaces :

April 2018 - Sewing 101

This month we tried some classic hand sewing and learned a bit about some of the tools you'll find in a sewing kit. We had a lot of fun teaching each other some of our tricks and sharing tips that we have discovered. We hope you learned some helpful skills and found a new and relaxing way to craft with needlework!

March 2018 - Art Journaling

This month we took a look at art journaling, which is a book kept as a visual record of one's thoughts and ideas using a wide variety of mixed mediums. Everyone who attended was encouraged to choose an old book to upcycle and given all sorts of scrapbooking materials to create their own personal art. We hope to revisit this topic again in the future and are excited to see what inspiring journal entries you continue to create!

February 2018 - Paper Crafting

This month we introduced you to some easy and beautiful paper crafts and encouraged you to recycle some old books! We briefly discussed how to make decorations by folding books, refashioning book pages, and creating intricate dioramas. We also took a look at some free resources that can be found onlinet to help inspire your book folding creations, like this one

Our activity followed the Peeping Mouse tutorial found in Folded book art : 35 beautiful projects to transform your books -- create cards, display scenes, decorations, gifts, and more by Clare Youngs. Guided by the easy-to-use template provided we cut out some shapes and constructed some adorable mice.
